Awhile back, I challenged a Kombo colleague, MattG, to give [amazon-product text=”Heavy Rain” type=”text”]B002CZ38KA[/amazon-product] a chance. The story is so incredible and I found the gameplay to be very immersive, and well, I knew he wouldn’t like it and I admit I wanted an excuse to debate with him. He’s so set in his ways and loves such specific games that I couldn’t help myself. I loaned him my copy of the game and bet fellow Kombo cohorts that he wouldn’t like it. He’s almost finished with the game, and we haven’t really discussed any of it (we’re saving it for a podcast) but he has issued a gaming challenge to me of his own.
I was certain it was going to be [amazon-product text=”Super Mario Galaxy 2″ type=”text”]B002BSA388[/amazon-product] just because he loves it so much and is convinced I’m a bit crazy for not liking platforming games. I was wrong. He found out a couple of days ago that I’ve never played Portal, and he has made that his challenge to me. Unfortunately for me, I’m going to have to purchase it from XBLA because I have no interest in buying the [amazon-product text=”Orange Box” type=”text”]B000R0PLK2[/amazon-product] set. At least it’s only $15. But then I got a thought today. Does this game have a strategy guide? I could review it while completing my challenge and not drop this blog completely in the meantime! And sure enough, it does.
I’ve already ordered it, and as soon as I finish [amazon-product text=”Bayonetta” type=”text”]B001YI0Z2U[/amazon-product] (which shouldn’t be that long from now) it will be Portal-city for me. I’ve been told I’ll hate the game, but isn’t that what a gaming challenge is all about? I wonder if MattG has made a similar bet with our friends…
