Unboxing the Final Fantasy XV Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide – Why Should I Buy?

November 29, 2016 By Keri Honea 4 Comments

I honestly never thought Final Fantasy XV would release in 2016, but Square Enix has proven me wrong once again. It’s out on store shelves, and so is its strategy guide by Piggyback. I haven’t had a Piggyback strategy guide in what seems like eons. My initial experiences with their guides was rather rough, but they have improved so much over the years, so I am delighted they have taken the helm for FFXV. I’m even more delighted that I’ve already had the game for a couple of days, because I have questions regarding what the strategy guide covers and how it covers them.

This isn’t a full review of the Final Fantasy XV Collector’s Edition strategy guide, but I do look into some answers for the questions I already have. All I have left to do now, other than cuddle with this beautiful book, is see just how well these strategies work, how efficiently the book is presented, and all that other jazz I get obsessed with.

Yes, I did get a little excited. I regret nothing.

Monday Gaming Diary: Phoenix Wright Obsession

November 28, 2016 By Keri Honea 7 Comments

objection

Dear God it’s amazing how hooked I am on the Phoenix Wright series. I bought the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy for 3DS awhile back when the eShop was having a sale. Thanks to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, the desire to play these games suddenly jumped in priority. It helps that they are for a portable system, so I take my 3DS to doctor appointments, karate practice, on road trips, and in bed late at night to solve these murder mysteries in the worst method available: on the fly in a courtroom. I’m currently in the last game of the trilogy, Trials and Tribulations, and it’s surprising how hard it is for me to put down my 3DS to perform other functions in life. Damn kids and job always getting in the way.

I never wanted anything to do with this series when it was first announced, and now that I have embraced how much it is NOT like court proceedings, I absolutely love it. I almost wish that our criminal court system ran just like this, although I wonder how wrongful incarcerations we’d have as a result. Regardless, having a completely idiotic judge, no jury, and a prosecution team who is always out to call the defense a bunch of idiots is darn entertaining. Who cares about the Rules of Procedure, Rules of Evidence, or what a cross-examination truly is when you have this form of entertainment? Not to mention all the ways the prosecution likes to physically punish poor Mr. Wright. Over the games I’ve played, Phoenix has had beads thrown at him, seeds hurled in his face, whipped, and hot coffee tossed at his head. I really wish I could take 3DS screen shots of the top screen (WTF is wrong with you, Nintendo?) so I can get a lovely screenshot of Wright blinking his eyes through dripping scalding coffee. I also want to capture so many of his puns, but I want the coffee eye blinks even more.

I’m about halfway finished with the final entry of the trilogy, and I have a feeling I may cry when the credits roll. What will I do then? Actually work on my reviews? Play a Pokemon game? My day just doesn’t feel complete without hearing Wright yell, “OBJECTION!” and watching his finger point across the courtroom.

Dishonored 2 Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide – Why Should I Buy?

November 14, 2016 By Keri Honea 2 Comments

Dishonored 2 released on a Friday, and this lovely strategy guide showed up over the weekend. Is it worth the extra cash for purchase? We crack it open and explore it a little bit and show what you can expect. I couldn’t give a definitive yay or nay on purchasing, but check it out for yourself and see if you find it to be worth the extra cash.

It really is stunning. Can’t wait to see how it helps this stealth-hater get through a stealth-ish playthrough.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Strategy Guide Review

October 27, 2016 By Keri Honea 2 Comments

Deus Ex Mankind Divided strategy guide reviewBet you guys thought we totally forgot about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided strategy guide! I think we wanted to, considering all the bad rumors we heard about it. When I spoke with Brad soon after he started playing the game, he sadly confirmed the rumors with me, something he will get into more in his video review.

Now before you get harsh with his video review, keep this in mind. Brad’s computer decided to die, which never happens at a convenient time. As such, he filmed this on his iPad. So yes, it’s not the best quality, but he did it. That’s all that is important. And you can probably guess from his score that it’s not the best strategy guide out there. Brad explains why below.

Unboxing the World of Final Fantasy Collector’s Edition (Video)

October 26, 2016 By Keri Honea Leave a Comment

World of Final Fantasy collectors edition

It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve done my last collector’s edition unboxing video for a game. I’ve preordered a lot this Fall (translation: too many) so there should be plenty of videos in the near future. Today I have the World of Final Fantasy collector’s edition, and it’s far more amazing than I thought it would be. I knew it would come in the form of a book (the world is called Grymoire, after all; it’s a pun, like everything else in the game), but I wasn’t prepared for the size of the book or its presentation. It’s an amazing collector’s edition, and it has all the bells and whistles a collector’s edition for a video game should have. Better yet, it wasn’t nearly as expensive and most CEs list for these days. I’m sure you’ve noticed I didn’t pick up a Gears of War 4 CE, right? Even I have my price limits, believe it or not.

Here is the full unboxing of the World of Final Fantasy collector’s edition. Enjoy! I know I plan to.
