Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Strategy Guide Giveaway

March 18, 2014 By Keri Honea Leave a Comment

FFX/X-2 HD strategy guideSince Square Enix is releasing a brand new HD remaster for Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, BradyGames decided to publish a brand new strategy guide for the occasion instead of bring out the original strategy guides from a vault. I assume there’s a vault.

I also assume that you can use your original strategy guides if you have them, as this is just a visual remaster, not a remix like the Kingdom Hearts games. But if you want the latest and greatest or just like new and shiny books, here’s how you can win one from BradyGames.

My original idea was to have contestants submit a short video of them mimicking the awkward laugh scene from FFX. You know exactly what I’m talking about. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized no one would submit anything. Hell, I wouldn’t submit anything for that type of contest. So here’s something a little more palatable.

This will be available to both Twitter and Facebook fans. If you follow us in both venues, then hey, you can enter twice. Once again, it’s US contestants only.

Twitter Rules

  • Follow @strategyreviews on Twitter.
  • Tweet to @strategyreviews which FFX game you’re most excited to play again or play for the first time, FFX or FFX-2. Your tweet must include the hashtag #FreeGuideFriday.
  • All entries must be in by Friday, March 21st, at noon. I will randomly pick a winner at that time.

Facebook Rules

  • Write a comment to the Facebook post announcing this contest that says which FFX game you’re most excited to play again or play for the first time, FFX or FFX-2.
  • Be sure to use the #FreeGuideFriday hashtag.
  • All entries must be in by Friday, March 21st, at noon. I will randomly pick a winner at that time.

You think you got it? Let the entries for this strategy guide commence!

South Park: The Stick of Truth Strategy Guide Giveaway

March 6, 2014 By Keri Honea Leave a Comment

South Park: The Stick of Truth strategy guideI have been eagerly waiting for South Park: The Stick of  Truth since it was first announced a couple of years ago, and I’m so excited it’s finally here. I’m even more excited that there’s a strategy guide for it, as that naturally bumps up its playing priority. The folks at Prima Games are so excited about it and love you all so much, they’ve given me an extra one to give away. After reading just the first 20 pages of the strategy guide, trust me, you guys are all in for a treat. It’s so obvious the writers had as much fun writing this strategy guide as this did playing the game.

So how do you win this? I’m getting to that, and I want this to be a little more fun than usual.

This will be available to both Twitter and Facebook fans. If you follow us in both venues, then hey, you can enter twice. Once again, it’s US contestants only.

  • All entries must be in by Friday, March 7th, at noon. I will randomly pick a winner at that time.

Free Guide Friday Giveaway – Pokemon X & Y Postgame Adventure

February 27, 2014 By Keri Honea Leave a Comment

pokemonxy-postgameFor whatever reason, the Pokemon Company opted to divide the strategy guide for Pokemon X & Y into two guides. I now have in my hands The Official Kalos Region Pokedex & Postgame Adventure Guide for Pokemon X & Y. That’s a mouthful. One is going to a reviewer, and the other, thanks to Prima Games for sending two, will go to a Pokemon fan.

It contains the complete Pokedex for Pokemon X & Y, strategies for the postgame (finally), and a poster. If you own the first guide, might as well round out your collection.

Want this for free? Read on.

This will be available to both Twitter and Facebook fans. If you follow us in both venues, then hey, you can enter twice. Once again, it’s US contestants only.

Twitter Rules

  • Follow both @strategyreviews and @PrimaGames on Twitter.
  • Tweet something about wanting this second half of the Pokemon X & Y strategy guide from @strategyreviews and @Primagames for #FreeGuideFriday. Both twitter accounts must be mentioned as well as the hashtag and the following shortlink (http://strgygui.de/1kofPt9) to be a valid entry. If your tweet is creative, I’ll most likely retweet it, if you care about that sort of thing.
  • All entries must be in by Friday, February 28th, at noon. I will randomly pick a winner at that time.

Facebook Rules

  • Write a comment to the Facebook post announcing this contest about wanting and/or needing this strategy guide. Humor is always appreciated for my own personal amusement.
  • Be sure to use the #FreeGuideFriday hashtag.

October 30, 2013 By Keri Honea 1 Comment

Battlefield 4 strategy guideIn back to back weeks, have two huge multiplayer shooters releasing. Oh sure, they have single-player campaigns, but we all know why people really play these games–to shoot their friends and strangers. In the case of Battlefield, it’s to knife a newbie in the back. (I’m not bitter about that steep learning curve or anything.) If you’re not as bitter as I am and are planning to play Battlefield 4, then why not win the Battlefield 4 strategy guide to have an up on camping veterans?

The Battlefield 4 FreeGuideFriday is open up to both Twitter followers and Facebook page fans. You still have to be a US resident, though. If you happen to follow us on Twitter and Facebook, then you can enter on both places have two entries! In addition, if you want extra entries, all you have to do is donate $10 to my Extra Life fundraiser and you’ll get an additional entry per $10 you donate. Also, every $10 you donate will also put you in the running for a strategy guide of your choice! Just be sure to leave a little SGR comment about which guide you’re wanting so I know which contest to enter you in or if you want to be in both!
