Unboxing the DOOM Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide – Why Should I Buy?

May 13, 2016 By Keri Honea Leave a Comment

I’ve made no attempt to disguise how much I love Collector’s Editions, especially with strategy guides. I try to get the Collector’s Editions of all the strategy guides that I can, even when I don’t receive one as a review copy. They’re always more expensive than the regular guides, but they always have so many extras that they’re worth it. There’s always a beautiful hardcover, and usually some physical goodies like bookmarks or fold-out maps or even extra artwork or developer interviews in the back.

For whatever reason, the DOOM Collector’s Edition strategy guide has barely anything to make the extra $15 worth it. I’m not pleased. I’m close to livid. I explain why you shouldn’t buy this Collector’s Edition strategy guide and what Collector’s Editions should contain below. Apologies for the Keri-torial at the end.

May the content be far better than what the CE offers.

May 12, 2016 By Keri Honea Leave a Comment

The Uncharted 4 Collector’s Edition strategy guide has arrived! We got a glimpse of it when Prima Games first announced it, but is there more to the collector’s edition than their announcement claimed? Here is what I found when I opened this pretty, pretty thing. And yes, it is a gorgeous strategy guide, make no mistake about that.

Watch below and find out for yourself if you should buy the Uncharted 4 collector’s edition strategy guide over the paperback.

Dark Souls III Strategy Guide Review

May 4, 2016 By Chris Nitz Leave a Comment

Dark Souls 3 Strategy Guide ReviewWell, it’s finally here. After several attempts this morning, I actually recorded my review of the Dark Souls III strategy guide. Sadly, it was a disaster. There was just too much bad/missing information, bad navigation, and an overall depressing amount of lacking information. The eGuide from Prima Games helped take the sting down a bit, but not much. But hey, we have a cool new overlay for our reviews now. So go us!

Initial Impressions of the Dark Souls III Strategy Guide by Prima Games

April 26, 2016 By Chris Nitz Leave a Comment

I finally got my grubby hands on the Dark Souls III strategy guide by Prima Games. As we’ve had some questions come in about this guide I figured I would make a small video covering unboxing, initial impressions, and should you buy it. The biggest question I start to tackle is how well does the Prima Games guide stack up to the rock solid guides that Future Press published on the earlier games in this series. Well, a small spoiler on that. It doesn’t hold up well. Yeah, I’m sad and I haven’t even finished the guide.

Far Cry Primal Strategy Guide Review

April 25, 2016 By Blake Grundman Leave a Comment

Far Cry Primal strategy guide reviewI have had the fantastic opportunity to review some very amusing games lately. Fortunately, one just so happened to line up with a strategy guide that I could cover in my first ever strategy guide video review. There are several pieces of the Far Cry Primal strategy guide that are constructed very solidly. However, by virtue of it being an open world game, the organization of the guide itself needed to be a bit more open-ended. That is where the problems began…

There are quite a few things to discuss about the guide itself, both good and bad, so I will let my review speak for itself.

Author: Will Murray, Michael Owen
Publisher: Prima Games
Editions available: Hardcover
Acquire via publisher

PS: I just ask that you be gentle. This is my first time being in front of the camera by myself, so naturally I may come off as a bit nervous. Hopefully this is just a tentative first step into a much bigger world. Thanks for indulging this n00b!
